Peking Union
Medical College Hospital
(PUMCH)
Known as the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Peking Union Medical College Hospital, was founded by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1921. It is a modern, comprehensive tertiary Grade A hospital that integrates medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research. The hospital enjoys a high reputation in China and internationally, and has been designated by the National Health Commission as the National Center for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Difficult and Critical Illnesses. It is also one of the earliest hospitals to undertake medical tasks for foreign guests.
Peking Union Medical College Hospital has four campuses: Dongdan, Xidan, Daxing, and Xiong’an. The hospital’s total construction area exceeds 620,000 square meters, with more than 2,000 open inpatient beds and over 4,300 staff members. It includes oncology departments and a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The hospital also has 29 national key clinical specialties, including geriatrics, general surgery, orthopedics, cardiology, thoracic surgery, pediatrics, neurology, and infectious diseases.
